ADTRALZA
LEO PHARMA x AKQA

A patient support app for Adtralza, LEO Pharma's biologic treatment for moderate-to-severe eczema — guiding patients through injection technique, timing reminders, and tracking across rash, stress, sleep, and nutrition. Eduardo led the technical direction, architecture, and release management. Following its German launch, the app was adopted by nearly all patients on the treatment and is now being extended to additional markets.

OVERVIEW _

Digital health apps in pharmaceutical contexts carry constraints that most consumer products don't: medical accuracy requirements, compliance obligations, and a user base for whom reliability is not optional. The Adtralza patient support app was built to meet those standards — helping patients self-administer a biologic injection with confidence, and to track the health dimensions that affect their condition over time.

Eduardo led the technical direction and architecture, and managed the app through to release. The scope covered a cross-platform mobile app (iOS and Android), the patient data tracking system, and the app store submission and compliance process — including the coordination required to launch in line with a new product release in Germany.

The launch outcome was notable: near-complete patient adoption in the German market, with the app in daily use. Based on that performance, the product is being updated with new services and extended to further markets.

IMPACT & RECOGNITION

"Launched in line with a new Adtralza product in Germany, the live app has been downloaded by almost all patients who are now using it daily. Based on this success, the app is being updated with new services and will be introduced in more countries."
