WONDERFUL COPENHAGEN x AKQA

A personalised video generation tool built to help Copenhagen Convention Bureau compete for international business events — each prospective organiser receives a custom video envisioning their event in Copenhagen, built from their survey responses. Eduardo led the technical direction and architecture at AKQA, and developed the proof of concept for the video generation pipeline. The tool won a Danish Digital Award Silver and contributed to a record start for the CVB, with projections pointing to roughly €200M in business tourism turnover.

OVERVIEW _

Winning the right to host an international conference is a boardroom decision — typically made over a set of competing Powerpoint decks. Copenhagen Convention Bureau wanted something more compelling: a tool that let prospective event organisers envision their event actually taking place in Copenhagen, presented as a personalised video they could take into that decision meeting.

The tool works through a short survey covering industry sector, event themes, number of delegates, and preferences. That data maps to a video generation pipeline — using pre-rendered Copenhagen footage and dynamic overlays composed in Cloudinary — producing a unique video for each respondent. Beyond the video itself, the tool generates structured lead data for the CVB sales team: each completed video represents a high-quality, qualified prospect.

Ogilvy Danmark served as lead agency, originating the creative concept. AKQA handled the full technical implementation — Eduardo served as Technical Director, leading the solution architecture and developing the proof of concept for the personalised video pipeline. The tool performed strongly enough that a second version was commissioned immediately after launch.
